On November 5th, Judge Perry will hand down the sentence to former BART police office Johannes Mehserle in the shooting death of Oscar Grant, III.
ONYX, The New Years Movement, IamOscarGrant.org and the General Assembly for Justice for Oscar Grant will hold space for community response and fellowship in the plaza of Oakland City Hall.
This day will be a day to honor Oscar Grant, heal our wounds, reflect on this journey and plan for our future. PLEASE BRING FLOWERS, CARDS, PICTURES OR SOME OTHER ITEM TO HONOR THE MEMORY OF OSCAR AND THE HISTORIC JOURNEY HIS MARTYRDOM HAS TAKEN US THROUGH!
We urge the community to come out in full force to support this event, to support each other and to continue to demonstrate that we will no longer lay down silently while our young men are executed by law enforcement. There is strength in our numbers and power in our passion. We will not rest until we see justice!
