Rally to Demand Justice for Oscar Grant & Jail Killer Cops

Oakland City Hall, (tentative) date: Saturday, October 23, 2010

What: Planning Meeting, to form Working Committees to prepare for Rally

When: Tuesday, July 27, 7pm

Where: Local 10, Longshoreman’s Hall, Henry Schmidt Room,

400 North Point, betw. Mason & Taylor, SF (near Fisherman’s Wharf)

ILWU Local 10 has called for a labor and community rally to demand justice for Oscar Grant. The rally is to be held at Oakland City Hall. We’re discussing the date but it looks like it will be Saturday October 23 to give us enough time to organize a massive demonstration before the sentencing of killer cop Mehserle. Our union’s call is to “jail killer cops”. The rally is open to all labor and community groups that want to see justice for Oscar Grant and to oppose this racist justice system. Please be at the ILWU Local 10 hall in the Henry Schmidt room at 7PM on Tuesday July 27. This is the first organizing meeting so it’s important we have all groups concerned with social justice and workers rights present. Let’s start the ball rolling now to build a mass demonstration of labor and community groups. An injury to one is an injury to all!

In solidarity,
Jack Heyman
